Front of House Volunteer – Animal Rescue Centre

Location: RSPCA Animal Rescue Centre, Clough Road, Hull
Time Commitment: Flexible – ideally regular weekly shifts to support consistency
Overall Purpose of the Role:
As a Front of House Volunteer, you’ll be one of the first friendly faces people meet when they visit our Animal Rescue Centre. You’ll help welcome visitors, support with the running of our onsite retail shop, and assist with light admin and customer service tasks. This role is perfect for anyone who enjoys helping others, has a friendly manner, and wants to make a real difference to animal welfare by supporting the smooth running of our centre.
Your Tasks:
Front of House Volunteers can get involved in a range of duties, including:
- Welcoming visitors to the centre
- Assisting with the opening and operation of the on-site shop
- Handling small sales and using a card machine (training provided)
- Answering general visitor queries in person or by phone
- Supporting basic administrative tasks (e.g., filing, data entry, booking support)
- Helping to keep the front of house clean, tidy, and welcoming
- Promoting Gift Aid, fundraising initiatives, and volunteering opportunities
- Supporting staff and other volunteers during open days and centre events
What We Are Looking For:
You don’t need previous experience – just a friendly and professional attitude, and a willingness to help. We welcome people from all backgrounds and will provide training for your role.

- Are comfortable using basic IT (email, booking systems – training provided)
- Are reliable and committed to agreed shifts
- Are happy to work in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude

Additional Information:
- Volunteers must be 18 or over
- Volunteers will be asked to provide two references
- Training is provided, including health & safety and safeguarding guidance.
- Volunteers are expected to maintain confidentially of sensitive information and adhere to the Shops policies and procedures.
