Community Education Volunteer

Location: RSPCA Animal Rescue Centre, Clough Road, Hull
Time Commitment: Flexible – during school hours, occasional evenings and weekend

Overall Purpose of the Role:

Education Volunteers support the delivery of engaging and informative animal welfare sessions for schools, youth groups, families, and local communities. By assisting the Education Coordinator, you’ll help promote responsible pet ownership, compassion, and animal rights across our region. This role is ideal for those who enjoy public speaking, working with young people, or have a passion for learning and animal welfare.

Your Tasks:

Community Education Volunteers can get involved in a range of duties, including:

  • Assist with the set-up and delivery of education sessions in schools, colleges, or community venues
  • Help prepare, pack, and distribute educational materials and displays
  • Capture attendance data, feedback, and assist with follow-up admin
  • Support community events such as holiday clubs, summer learning days, and village hall sessions
  • Champion the RSPCA’s key messages
  • Represent the Branch at school fairs, awareness days, or open days

What We Are Looking For:

You don’t need teaching experience, just the enthusiasm to engage with others and support animal welfare education. We will provide guidance, resources, and training.

  • Are friendly, patient, and good at listening
  • Are organised and prepared
  • Share our passion for animal welfare and the work of the RSPCA
  • Are flexible and happy to travel locally for sessions (with notice)

Additional Information:

  • Volunteers must be 18 or over
  • Volunteers will be asked to provide two references
  • Training is provided, including health & safety and safeguarding guidance.
  • Volunteers are expected to maintain confidentially of sensitive information and adhere to the Shops policies and procedures.
