About the Role
The Branch is seeking a reliable and compassionate Casual Animal Care Assistant to support the daily care and welfare of animals within our Animal Centre. This role is ideal for someone passionate about animal welfare who is flexible, hands-on, and committed to providing high standards of care for animals in need.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, cleaning, grooming, and enrichment activities.
- Maintain clean, safe, and hygienic animal accommodation and work areas.
- Monitor animal health, behaviour, and wellbeing, reporting any concerns to the Animal Care Team Leader.
- Safely handle animals of various species, sizes, and temperament’s.
- Assist with admissions, rehoming processes, and veterinary visits as required.
- Maintain accurate animal records and follow all welfare, health, and safety procedures.
- Support the wider team in delivering excellent standards of animal care and customer service.
- Administration and recording of medicines.
- High focus on infection protection controls.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and the aims of the RSPCA.
- Experience handling and caring for animals (professional, voluntary, or personal experience considered).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays as required.
- Good physical fitness and ability to carry out manual handling duties.
- Calm, patient, and confident when working with animals of different temperaments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Over the age of 21 years for the branches insurance cover and been driving 3 years.
- Animal Care qualification or relevant experience in an animal welfare environment
