Nemo came to us as the previous owners were unable to cope. We don’t know much more information, but he was sadly underweight and dehydrated when he arrived.

He had only been there a couple of days when one of our staff members Grace fell in love at first sight. Nemo was generally healthy, and we expected quite a quick turnaround to get him settled into a new home. Sadly, Nemo’s test results came back with some issues, and he had to be put into isolation for further checks. This delayed his adoption process slightly.

He was finally signed off by the vet after a couple of weeks and he was able to go home. We spoke to Grace about her experience and here’s what she had to say:

“As a family with children 7&5 I didn’t want to overwhelm Nemo on day 1. We took it slow and came home when the children were at school. He settled well and started digging up the back garden, that’s when I knew that this journey was about to be fun!

He was and still is incredible with the children, he is so patient and calm but also fun and playful. He was behind on his training, so we were worried about that process. By a couple of days in it was clear that we didn’t need to worry. He was fully potty trained by 2 weeks and was walking on a loose lead within a couple of sessions.

We’ve had him since January and it’s become clear that he is fully settled, he now comes for cuddles often and knows the rules and boundaries.

Our daughter Eliza now has aspirations to be a dog trainer and has taught him tricks like around where Nemo will circle her for a treat.

We couldn’t be happier; he has brought so much happiness to our family, and we can’t believe that we lived without him!

If you’re considering adopting, please go for it. You might have to wait a while to find a perfect match. I have been working here since last May and found him in January. But the wait is so worth it.”

We are so happy that Grace found the perfect dog for her family!
