In May 2025, Diego arrived at our centre after being seized by the RSPCA Inspectorate. At just 1.4kg, this 8-year-old male cat was painfully thin and in an extremely poor condition.
Diego needed very careful management with his feeding and was placed on a plan of five small meals a day to allow his body to adjust safely. It was clear Diego had been starved, feeding times left him panicked and highly stressed, unsure when food would come again.
He had also lost fur around his neck from injuries sustained while trying to access food from unsuitable places in the home.
With time, patience and a structured feeding plan, Diego slowly began to gain weight and rebuild trust. Feeding times became calmer, and he started to understand that food was now a regular, reliable part of his life.
As his body healed, Diego’s true personality began to shine through, a friendly, affectionate boy who just wanted comfort and love.
Diego was adopted in July and is now living a happy, healthy life. His new family tell us he proudly takes centre stage on the bed, and they couldn’t be happier with how well he has settled in.
We would like to say a huge thank you to our RSPCA Inspectorate for rescuing Diego, and to our dedicated staff and volunteers who provided him with the care, patience and compassion he so desperately needed on his road to recovery.
